PRESIDENT OF THE ASSOCIATION OF MANITOBA MUNICIPALITIES

On behalf of the Association of Manitoba Municipalities (AMM) Board of Directors, welcome to Brandon for the AMM 2023 Fall Convention.

As we gather to celebrate our 25th Anniversary, we reflect upon the transformative growth of our association and unwavering commitment to serving our members through our advocacy, programs, and services. With this mind, the theme of this year’s Convention – Honouring Yesterday, Treasuring Today, Shaping Tomorrow – is so fitting.

Over the years, we have amplified our united voice to ensure that our members’ concerns are heard, and the unique needs of municipalities are not just acknowledged but addressed. With the 2023 provincial election now behind us, we will continue to advance the voice of municipal Manitoba by working collaboratively with the new provincial government to foster growth and build stronger communities across our province.

Throughout the Convention, you will have the opportunity to hear from provincial and federal leaders and engage in thought-provoking discussions with our provincial representatives. Every year, I eagerly anticipate the Ministerial Forum, and this year’s session will be particularly exciting, as it marks our first encounter with the new provincial Cabinet. I’m confident that our deliberations will shed light on crucial municipal priorities, spark robust debates during our resolutions session, and offer numerous opportunities for networking and professional development.

The Convention days will pass quickly, so please don’t forget to explore our Trade Show and gain knowledge about the wide range of products and services available to municipalities. The Convention serves as a moment for us to unite as elected officials, administrators, colleagues, and friends. Therefore, be sure to join us as we ‘Break the Ice’ to celebrate with municipal peers from across Manitoba on Tuesday night as well as our Gala on Wednesday evening.
